"The Healer" (2017) is a heartwarming and uplifting film that tells the story of Alec Bailey, a young man who possesses a unique ability to heal others. Directed by Paco Arango, the film takes us on a journey of self-discovery, faith, and the power of healing.
Alec, played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen, is a charming but troubled man who has lost his purpose in life after a string of personal failures. Struggling with financial difficulties and on the verge of losing everything, he receives an unexpected visit from a mysterious man named Raymond Heacock, portrayed by Jonathan Pryce.
Raymond reveals to Alec that he is his biological grandfather, the head of a long line of healers. He informs Alec that he too has inherited the gift and encourages him to embrace his destiny, setting him on a path to rediscover himself and help others through his healing abilities.
Reluctantly, Alec agrees and embarks on a journey to a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada. There, he encounters Abigail, a young girl with a terminal illness, beautifully portrayed by Camilla Luddington. Alec's healing powers are put to the test as he forms a deep connection with Abigail and her family
